As Mr. Kopf completes a Painting of a Sedrah, Torah Portion, the listing below is updated. Small versions of Mr. Kopf's paintings serve as links to web pages devoted to each particular Sedrah, which includes a larger version of the painting, a summary of details about the painting such as its size, medium, how it was signed and the status of the original art work. Biblical commentaries written by the Mr. Kopf, who is a graduate of both Yeshiva University High School and of Yeshiva College in New York City, follows the painting along with a chart listing the available sizes and prices of Giclée copies available for purchase.
The heading of each Sedrah listed below indicates the numerical order of each Sedrah in the annual cycle of readings and is a link to a web site that provides dates that each particular Sedrah is scheduled to be read in synagogues for the next several years as well as other details about the Sedrah. The next line in each listing contains the name or title of the Sedrah in Hebrew and in English and is a link to a web site with an overview article about each Sedrah.

Please Note:
1. There are some instances in the above index where paintings are represented by an admittedly rough "stand in" photograph rather than by a scanned reproduction and where no Biblical commentary is included. Such paintings were made and gifted by Mr. Kopf to family or friends and before he began including written commentaries as part of his gift and before the idea or availability of giclee copies was known to him.
2. Similarly, there are written pieces about certain holidays, prayers or religious subjects that are included without a directly related painting to represent it. A "place holder" photograph is included rather than leaving the spot empty.
3. Mr. Kopf creates his Paintings of the Sedrahs as occasions present themselves; i.e. as the Bar or Bat Mitzvah of a family member or of a close friend approaches or as an acquaintance of advanced years celebrates the "umpteenth" anniversary of their own "big day" of decades ago by chanting their Haftara again. It has been estimated that if Mr. Kopf continues to produce his Paintings of the Sedras at his current pace, he will complete Painting the entire Torah, which is slowly becoming his passion and dream, when he reaches the age of 146. Those who are not related to Mr. Kopf or who are not a close personal friend of his but who would like to present one of Mr. Kopf's Paintings of the Sedrahs as a Bar Mitzvah gift of a Sedrah which he has not yet painted can still be accommodated. Mr. Kopf, who works around his other responsibilities and activities to keep his Paintings of the Sedrahs projects on schedule, requires between two and three months to study a Sedrah, write the companion commentary, create a painting for it, have a giclee scan made of the work and have the painting and any giclee copies framed. His fee for such a "command performance" is $7,000.00, which includes the original painting, framed and delivered, and an 8"x10" copy matted and framed for each member of he Bar or Bat Mitzvah's immediate family, i.e. parents and siblings, and a bound printed copy of Mr. Kopf's Biblical commentary of that Sedrah with each framed piece. Please provide contact information including name, phone, e-mail address, date of event, tile of the Sedrah if known using the phone or e-mails address below and we will respond with a formal proposal based on our standard Terms of Agreement . Thank you. |
